A Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is an earned research degree that involves an extended period of intensive, independent research, resulting in a significant contribution of original knowledge in the form of a dissertation, and defense of the work before a panel of experts in the field.

The Ph.D. programme prepares graduates in theology to develop servant leadership by imparting advanced knowledge and values for global Christian service to God and humanity.

Applicants with an M.Phil. or Research Master’s degree (60 graduate credits minimum) in Theology or Religion or Biblical Studies can apply for the PhD programme with Grade Point Average 3.00 or above. Candidates with fewer than 60 credits will be required to take additional courses to reach the 60-credit threshold before being admitted into the PhD programme.

Enrolment for specialization in Old Testament/New Testament requires advanced-level proficiency in Biblical Hebrew/New Testament Greek.

International applicants must have entry qualifications equivalent to the above to be considered for admission.

All applicants will be required to complete and pass a pre-doctoral qualifying course. Upon successful completion, candidates will be invited to an admissions interview prior to final consideration for entry into the PhD programme.

A Registered PhD candidate in Theology of another university may be allowed to transfer credits earned and may get a waiver of the coursework, subject to entry requirements being equivalent to the above.
